Explosions shook Beaufort last week and many didn’t know why.

The explosions that took place were due to an obvious source.

Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort had explosives trainings on Thursday morning and was responsible for the explosions that were felt in northern Beaufort County.

The air station’s Facebook page explained that the explosions were a “demolition exercise to dispose of a surplus of explosives left over from the 2017 MCAS Beaufort Air Show and to practice for future air shows”.
