Wounded Warrior Project Shares How Companies That Partner With Nonprofits Are Making Communities Better
August 17th is National Nonprofit Day
As National Nonprofit Day approaches (Aug. 17), it’s important to recognize the powerful role business-nonprofit partnerships can play in changing and saving lives in our community.
Wounded Warrior Project partners with organizations across the country to expand reach, enhance programs, and improve advocacy efforts for post-9/11 injured veterans and their families. In return, the organization provides companies with a way to support their communities, involve their employees, and make an impact in the lives of wounded, ill, and injured veterans.
CSX, a national transportation company, has supported Wounded Warrior Project for seven years and currently sponsors an innovative drone training program that equips veterans with valuable skills and breaks down employment barriers. The reason? About 1 in 5 CSX employees is “military-connected,” so helping veterans is an important part of the company’s social and employee engagement. Parker’s Kitchen, a growing convenience store chain with stores in communities near military bases, recently raised $300,000 through a round-up campaign, directly aiding injured veterans in their local communities.
Brea Kratzert Todd with Wounded Warrior Project highlights how corporate support fuels free programs and services for warriors in mental health, financial wellness, physical health and wellness, advocacy, and long-term rehabilitation.
She’s joined by Olivia Parker of Parker’s Kitchen to share the collaboration stories that have uplifted their communities, provided veterans with new opportunities, and fulfilled corporate social initiatives for their companies.
