School’s out and the boys and girls of summer are ready to take center stage with youth all-star tournaments right around the corner, but this weekend was about the college stars, and one of our own is still in the fight.
May River alum Darrin Horn and Coastal Carolina will try to punch their tickets to the NCAA baseball super regional round when they take on Duke at 6 p.m. tonight on ESPN Plus.
We also recorded a new episode of the LowcoSports Lowdown on Friday and talked with new Colleton County football coach Adam Kinloch, who filled us in on his efforts to take the Cougars to the next level and reflected on his time coaching at May River and Whale Branch before getting the head coaching gig at his alma mater. Another new episode is coming Tuesday, and we’ll be talking golf with renowned instructor Krista Dunton, who heads up the Lowcountry’s LPGA Girls Golf chapter.
And speaking of golf, a handful of golfers with local ties were teeing it up today at U.S. Open qualifying sites. PGA Tour veteran and Bluffton resident William McGirt was in the field in Columus, Ohio, and Beaufort pro Mark Anderson and Bluffton amateur Luke Block were trying to punch their tickets in Durham, North Carolina.
