Thank you to the Long Cove Fund for a grant to provide healthy food! This year, we expect to provide more than a quarter of a million pounds of healthy produce and protein to our 54 Agency Partners in our community.
Thank you to the St. Francis Thrift shop for a grant to help underwrite our food rescue program! Each dollar enables us to rescue and deliver, free of charge, six pounds of food - enough for five meals.
We are holding our annual Agency Conferences on Fridays in September. We do five of them - one for each service area - and they’re underwritten by The Church Mouse. • Our agency partners are key to reaching and serving our neighbors in need. They are currently serving more than 10,000 people per week. But Feeding America estimates that there are more than 29,000 food insecure people living in our service area. So together we have the opportunity to do more, and that will be a focus of this conference. • We also look forward to learning more about their challenges and how we can serve them better. • The agencies also love getting together with their peers as part of this conference. They find ways to coordinate and to help each other.
We are excited to be part of Coligny Plaza’s Rock N Ribs music, booze, and barbecue festival, October 17-20. We and our volunteers had a blast last year and this year is shaping up to be a great event.
Post Vacation Food Donation ends on August 31. You have a couple more weeks to come see us and drop off unopened, nonperishable foods.
