SPORTS REPORT

It’s been a rebuilding year for the May River boys lacrosse team, but make no mistake, the foundation is still strong. Team Lowco’s Wes Kerr was in The Tank to see May River continue its dominance over rival Bluffton last night with a 17-5 rout on Senior Night, as Ashton Stevenson collected five goals and an assist and Bryson Hart added four goals and two helpers to lead the Sharks to their 11th straight win over the Bobcats dating to 2018.

The Sharks also pulled out a tough win on the soccer pitch, as May River’s boys scored three second-half goals — all within a span of seven minutes — to escape with a 3-2 win over Parkview (Ga.) and coach Misa Garzon joined us on the LowcoSports Lowdown to recap the match.

Bluffton’s boys notched a 7-1 win over Richmond Hill, and the girls from Hilton Head High and Hilton Head Prep both posted shutouts.

And it was a nice night for the Beaufort Eagles, who won a five-team golf meet at Hilton Head Lakes, picked up a 12-9 win over Brookwood (Ga.) on the baseball diamond, and blanked Hilton Head 8-0 in softball with Kylie Rast racking up 18 strikeouts. Dominant.

Two weeks from today, we’ll be in the throes of the 56th RBC Heritage presented by Boeing, and as one of only eight limited-field events with no cut and guaranteed paychecks, this year’s tournament promises to offer one of the most star-studded fields we’ve seen in the event’s rich history.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is among the big names committed to play at Harbour Town from April 18-21, along with superstars Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, and Xander Schauffele.

We’ll keep you posted on who else intends to tee it up on Hilton Head the week after the Masters.
