Libby O'Regan: 3rd Annual Bike Bluffton November 3, 2024 | Boys & Girls Clubs

Registration NOW OPEN for the 3rd Annual Bike Bluffton!

The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton is pleased to announce it will host the 3rd annual cycling fundraiser, Bike Bluffton, on Sunday, November 3, 2024 and registration is open now for riders.

The 2023 event netted over $70,000 that directly benefitted The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton’s operating budget and the committee has their sights set on surpassing last years’ financial success.

Five scenic ride options through The Heart of the Lowcountry, Bluffton, South Carolina are offered to cyclists of all abilities. Ride sheets with route details are available online for those cyclists that are interested. The 62-mile metric century ride runs through Palmetto Bluff, while other routes include cycling through Hampton Hall, Sun City, and Hampton Lakes.

The family-friendly 2-mile ride and the casual 10-mile ride are great for locals who want to get involved in the community.

“Bike riders of all levels of experience can enjoy carefully planned, scenic routes while giving back to the children of our community who need us the most,” said Board of Directors President, Doug Pace. “We have learned a lot in the last two years and have plans to make our 3rd Annual event even better than before!”

Now in its 3rd year, the event committee has learned from their experience. New for 2024 is a 20-mile cycling route based on the feedback that ten miles was too short (and thirty miles was too long). This is expected to draw an entirely new group of riders to the about 400 riders that are expected.

Riders will be pleased to know that the free lunch will be catered in an efficient and speedy manner when they return hungry. A delicious meal of pork sliders and sides will be catered by One Hot Mamas and generously sponsored by SERG Group. The committee has also planned a free breakfast and coffee for participants and volunteers from the gentlemen of F3. Palmetto Kettle corn will be back along with other surprises that will excite attendees!

The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton has served thousands of youth ages 6-18 in the last 26 years. Nearly 50% of the Club members are living in a single-parent household and 46% are living below the Federal poverty line, strengthening the mission statement about serving “ the children who need us most.”

The Club is so much more than a safe place to go after school and is not a babysitting service. Programming is focused on three areas to grow the whole child: academic/career preparedness, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship. With an annual operating budget of more than $1MM, existing fundraisers contribute to just 35% of the annual fund. This fundraiser is expected to fund about 10% of the annual operating budget by year 5.

“We are truly saving the lives of these young people!” said Resource Development Director for the Bluffton Club, Molly Hornbeak.

The cycling rides for Bike Bluffton on November 3, 2024, will start at staged times, the earliest and longest will commence at 7:30 am. The start and finish will be at The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton (100 H.E. McCracken Circle, Bluffton, SC 29910).

An 2024 event t-shirt is included in the registration fee. There’s an option to “Bike 4 A Kid” for $300 and ride for a specific Club member on the rider’s jersey. A limited-edition, commemorative jersey is included in that “Ride 4 A Kid” option.

Registration is $85 per person.

Local businesses who are interested in sponsoring the event are welcome. Sponsorships start at $250 and go to $7,500 and are an excellent way to promote brands, services, and products while giving back to the community. Businesses who are interested in a tax-deductible contribution that benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton are invited to contact Libby O’Regan, loregan@libbyomarketing.com.
