Justin Jarrett: LowCo Lights Basketball | December 4, 2023 | LowCo Sports

SPORTS REPORT

Hey, it’s Monday, and it’s December, so that means it’s time for a hoops-heavy edition of Lowco Lights on WHHI, powered by LowcoSports.com!

We had a whole bunch of Lowco-on-Lowco matchups on the slate over the weekend, including a battle at Beaufort High with the Eagles hosting the Whale Branch Warriors.

Anaiya Houseal and Leiya Watson had big nights for the Beaufort girls, and Samari Bonds and Amani Kleckley came up huge down the stretch for Beaufort’s boys.

Across town at Battery Creek, the Dolphins welcomed the Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars to a packed house.

The Dolphins rallied in the second half to win the girls game, but Poncie Capers led the Jaguars to a second-half comeback in the boys game.

LowcoSports.com’s Wes Kerr was in the Den at Bluffton High School on Friday, where the Bobcats took on defending SCISA 3A champion Hilton Head Prep, and the Dolphins used their stifling defense and methodical offense to frustrate Bluffton in a 41-28 win.

Wes also made it to The Nest at Hilton Head High on Saturday, where Luke Danzell got the Seahawks started early and Logan Tomlinson buried a couple big 3-pointers in a 56-52 win.

On Saturday night, it was a border battle at Colleton County High School with the Cougars hosting geographical rival Hampton County, and the Hurricanes blew in and out of Walterboro with a sweep.

Kaira Garvin and Lyric Jones led the Canes to a win in the girls’ game, and Darius Brooks converted a clutch 3-point play to lift the Hurricanes in the boys game.

We’ll talk more about this weekend’s results around the Lowco and discuss the College Football Playoff committee’s selections with Hall of Fame sportswriter Curry Kirkpatrick tonight on the LowcoSports Lowdown, live at 9 p.m. on the Lowco Media Network, and you can check out the Lowco Hoops Report live at 10 p.m. Tuesday for reports from gyms around the Lowcountry.

For LowcoSports and WHHI, I’m Justin Jarrett. Until next time, Go Lowco!
