Chefs’ Feast supports Lowcountry Food Bank programs that fight childhood hunger throughout the 10 coastal counties of SC that we serve. About 30 area chefs, who donate their time and talent, prepare delectable bites for guests to enjoy.
Chef Jacques Larson (Executive Chef at The Wild Olive and Obstinate Daughter) will lead the chefs in raising critical funds for the Lowcountry Food Bank childhood hunger programs. These programs address chronic hunger and the adverse consequences of hunger and are integral to the Lowcountry Food Bank’s mission to lead the fight against hunger in our communities.
Since its inception in 1999, Chefs’ Feast has raised more than $4 million, allowing Lowcountry Food Bank to provide more than 24 million meals to Lowcountry children.

PROGRAMS
School Pantry
School Pantry reaches children and their families through monthly 20-pound box distributions at school that are often scheduled around PTA meetings, performances, student pick up times or other school events. School Pantry brings families together by providing nutritious foods to be prepared and enjoyed at home.
School Market
School Market, piloted in 2017, is market-style “shopping” at school where students and their families may select their own dry goods, frozen meals, shelf stable proteins, fruits and vegetables based on their dietary needs and preferences. School Market currently operates in 10 schools in Charleston and Hampton counties. We welcome sponsorships to expands School Markets to additional schools!
Kids Café (After school meals at schools, community centers and similar places where kids go after school)
LCFB brought back Kids Café partners who had not served after-school meals since the onset of COVID-19. Through Kids Café and other child hunger program sites, Fresh for Kids initiatives served around 800 children daily and distributed more than 80,000 pounds of fresh produce to students and their families.
Through the Kids Café program, food insecure children receive after-school meals. One of the largest meal service programs in the country, it provides free meals and nutrition education to children in our community. Thanks to partnerships with schools, community centers and other agency partners, Kids Café provided about 34,000 meals to 16 after-school sites during the school year.
Fresh for Kids
We provided 10-15 pound bags of produce to students and their families during school dismissal time through the car and bus-rider lanes, holding more than 80 distributions in 2021 at school and library locations.
Distributed more than 87,000 pounds of fresh produce to children and their families through two models: at our after-school Kids Cafe site to enrolled children and through our Pop-Up Produce distribution model.
BackPack Buddies (A pack to take home from school on Fridays during the school year)
BackPack Buddies is designed to fight weekend hunger. Thousands of children in our community rely on free or reduced price meals they receive at school. Children at Lowcountry Food Bank partner schools who experience hunger are enrolled in the program and receive a pack of nutritious, easy to prepare food to take home to eat during the weekends each Friday during the school year. BackPack Buddies operates in more than 50 school and partner sites, serving nearly 3,800 children every week. Volunteer opportunities to assist in packing, delivering and financial sponsorships are available!
Summer Meals (Nutritious meals at summer sites during the summer months when school is not in session)
The Summer Meals program was established by the USDA to ensure that children and teens in food insecure areas continue to receive free, nutritious meals during the summer. The program serves breakfast and/or lunch meals at summer sites that range from faith-based organizations and recreation departments to schools and non-profits
