We filled you in on the high school football playoffs Monday, but that’s not the only postseason action heating up for teams across the Lowco.
The USCB Sand Shark women’s soccer team traveled to Lander last night for the Peach Belt Conference tournament, and after a thrilling match ended in a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods, the teams were still tied after the first five rounds of penalties before the Bearcats seized the victory and ended USCB’s historic season.
We watched the nail-biting end live on the LowcoSports Lowdown last night, where we also reflected on Bridges Prep’s runner-up finish in the Class 1A volleyball championship Saturday and talked with Beaufort High star running back Jadyn Andrews and Eagles superfan Jimmy Searson about the defending state champs’ big playoff win at Loris and matchup at Crestwood on Friday.
And we took a look at the results from the cross country state qualifiers this weekend, where Bluffton, May River, Hampton County, and Bridges Prep sent both the boys and girls on to the state meet along with the Hilton Head High and Whale Branch boys and individual qualifiers Yzeult Antia and Gavin Moore from Beaufort High. Terrific performances from May River’s Noah Wasserman and Bluffton’s Earlon Baker highlighted the day for the Lowco contingent that will race one more time Friday and Saturday at Newberry College. Finish strong!
