Hey, it’s time for Last Night in the Lowco on WHHI, powered by LowcoSports.com!
And it’s time to spotlight another Lowco squad on the cusp of a state championship. It was a big deal when the Bridges Prep volleyball team made the Class 1A playoffs last year, although the Bucs were bounced in five sets in the first round by Latta.
Fast forward a year, and after taking down Latta last week, Bridges Prep hosted the Class 1A Lower State final last night against Lake View and LowcoSports.com’s Wes Kerr was there to see the Bucs cruise to a 3-0 sweep - winning 25-15, 25-15, 25-23 to advance to the state championship match against St. Joseph’s Catholic at 10 a.m. Saturday in Columbia.
We spoke with Bridges Prep coach Roger Wilson on Monday’s edition of the LowcoSports Lowdown to learn more about the team and its quick rise to state title contender. Check it out on the Lowco Media Network on YouTube.
We also previewed some of the best matchups on this week’s slate of 14 high school football playoff games involving teams from the Lowco coverage area, including a potential shootout at Bluffton, an third annual grudge match at Whale Branch, and first-round home games for Hampton County, Hilton Head Christian Academy, Beaufort Academy, Colleton Prep, Thomas Heyward, and Patrick Henry. Plus, May River, Colleton County, Ridgeland-Hardeeville, John Paul the 2nd, and Holy Trinity all look to keep their seasons alive with upsets on the road.
