SPORTS REPORT

Hey, it’s time for Last Night in the Lowco on WHHI, powered by LowcoSports.com.

Or should we say Tomorrow Night in the Lowco? No Thursday night matchups this week, so Friday is the night with a dozen games including a quartet of Lowco-on-Lowco clashes in Week 10 of the high school football season.

The Hilton Head Seahawks stole the spotlight last week with a 23-10 win over previously undefeated May River in a game broadcast on WHHI, and the Seahawks will try to stay hot and maintain their spot in the Region 6-4A standings when they host Colleton County.

Meanwhile, May River looks to get back on track at home against Beaufort, which has its back against the wall and needs at least one win in its last two games to sneak into the playoffs.

They’re all chasing the Bluffton Bobcats, who sit at 2-0 in region play but face a tough test Friday with a trip to Bishop England. The Battling Bishops handed Hilton Head its only region loss but suffered a setback to May River.

Hampton County looks to bounce back from last week’s loss to Barnwell when the Hurricanes travel to Seabrook to face a Whale Branch team that has won its first two Region 5-2A games by two points each behind a stout defense, while Battery Creek travels to Orangeburg-Wilkinson hoping to move up in the Region 6-3A standings, and Hardeeville hits the road to Branchville for a non-region matchup.

The team from WHHI will be on hand for Hilton Head Christian Academy’s homecoming game against John Paul the 2nd, the second meeting between the rivals this season. The Eagles won the first one, but this is the one that counts toward the region standings.

Elsewhere in the SCISA ranks, Thomas Heyward hosts Carolina Academy and Hilton Head Prep faces Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach in the matinee in Sea Pines, while Patrick Henry travels to Orangeburg Prep, Colleton Prep heads to Dorchester Academy, and Cross Schools hosts 8-man power Holly Hill.

We’ll preview every game on the slate tonight on the Lowco Pigskin Preview, live at 9:30pm on the Lowco Media Network.
