- According to MIT living wage calculator a family of four with two working parents each need to earn over $48,000, that number jumps to $85,000 for a single-income household
- BSH works with all 10 local schools to provide teacher supplies throughout the school year so they can fill their classrooms without emptying their wallets
- We also keep a school snack closet stocked all year at each school for students who need a snack to get through the day
- Nutrition is an important part of education. If a child is hungry they can't focus on learning.
- Many studies show that a child's nutrition is linked to success in school.
- Bluffton Self Help's Clothing Closet also supports our teachers and families.
- Many of our local schools require school uniforms which can cause an additional strain on a family's budget.
- In order for students to get back to school feeling confident, with proper uniforms that fit we hold a school uniform drive each year for new and gently used uniforms.
- Neighbors can shop twice a month to help stretch their budget and provide clothing to their growing children.
