8th Annual March Forth to be held Saturday & Sunday, March 2 & 3, in Beaufort, Port Royal, and St. Helena Island
Honors the anniversary of Pat Conroy's death with events celebrating the major themes of his writing and teaching life: education, conversation, social justice, and storytelling.
Free events on Saturday, March 2
1) 9:30-Noon: Teddy Bear Picnic & Read with a Ranger at Port Royal Farmers Market, with DAYLO and NPS Ranger Katherine Freeman
2) 2:00-3:30 p.m.: Novelist Jeffrey Dale Lofton, author of Red Clay Suzie, at the Conroy Center
Ticketed All-Day Event on Sunday, March 3 at Penn Center, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets $12-$40
Birding walk in the morning led by Dr. Andy Jones, new executive director of the Spring Island Trust & Lowcountry Institute
Catered lunch by Debbi Covington
Three presentations in the afternoon:
1) Musician, educator, and author Brendan Slocumb, author of Symphony of Secrets, in conversation with Jonathan Haupt
2) Naturalist and biographer Patrick Dean, author of Nature's Messenger: Mark Catesby and His Adventures in the New World, in conversation with Margaret Evans
3) Award-winning nature photographer Kelley Luikey, whose bird photography has been featured on the cover of Garden and Gun and in National Audubon Society magazine
