Looking forward to the holidays and getting ready to ring in the new year!
Made it through the end of hurricane season – not one but two named storms.
Went all out at Thanksgiving - several hundred whole turkeys and more than 1700 turkey breasts were given out by our volunteers the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Grateful to have benefited from the Hilton Head Island Community Thanksgiving Dinner, an annual event at Hudson’s Seafood House.
2022 has seen an increase in our volunteer ranks – more than 70 new volunteers are coming out to help their friends and neighbors.
What looked to be a very slow start in food rescue gradually improved as the year went on. Our generous donors supported our “fill the gap” fundraiser to enable us to buy more and healthy food to feed the increased numbers of people needing help due to inflation. And we’re seeing an amazing response to our year-end appeal.
We have become more intentional in making sure that every pound of precious rescued food goes to where it’s needed most. You’ll see us continuing to do this in 2023, along with providing healthy and supplemental food.
And we’ll be working with vacation companies to rescue leftover nonperishable food from tourists, to put it into the hands of those who need it most.
As we get ready to turn the calendar to 2023, we again want to thank our volunteers and this generous community that makes it all possible.
