And it’s time to kickoff Week 9 of the high school football season. We have a Thursday night matchup of Lowco rivals when red-hot Hilton Head Christian Academy travels to Hardeeville to take on John Paul the 2nd in a SCISA showdown.
The Eagles have won six straight after an 0-2 start and are cranking on all cylinders on both sides of the ball, but JPII star Christian Tilton threw a scare into HHCA last season and will try to lead the Golden Warriors to an upset at home.
A big crosstown rivalry takes center stage for Lowco Friday Night with the Bluffton Bobcats welcoming the May River Sharks and hoping to send their rivals home with a defeat for the first time since 2017. The Sharks have won five straight against the Cats and they’ll try to make it six in the WHHI Game of the Week. Both teams can put up points so it should be an exciting matchup.
Beaufort Academy travels to Colleton Prep for another Lowco-on-Lowco clash that has serious seeding implications. Both teams likely need a win to have a shot at hosting first-round games in SCISA 2A playoffs. The Eagles and War Hawks split two meetings last season with each coming down to the wire, so this one should be a battle to the finish.
Elsewhere in Region 7-4A, Colleton County is at home against undefeated Lucy Beckham and Hilton Head travels to unbeaten James Island, while Beaufort hosts North Charleston in a Region 8-3A clash.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville hosts Edisto with a playoff spot on the line in Region 6-2A, and undefeated Whale Branch looks to move one step closer to a region title when the Warriors host Branchville.
After a big win over BA last week, Thomas Heyward punches above its class again with a trip to Pinewood Prep, while Cross hosts The King’s Academy with one team assured of its first win, and Holy Trinity looks to knock off 8-man powerhouse Holly Hill on the road.
