We just hit the diamonds and we’re already seeing some gems spun around the Lowco. Bluffton right-hander Miles Frye was locked in last night against visiting Beaufort, striking out 11 Eagles and holding a potent lineup to just one hit and one unearned run in a 5-1 win for the Bobcats, who head to the Isle of Ladies for the rematch Wednesday.
Beaufort was treated to a gem of its own from someone who has produced plenty of them, as North Greenville commit Kylie Rast racked up 16 strikeouts in a one-hit shutout and added a triple and a run in the Eagles’ 3-0 win over West Ashley.
In other action on the Lowco diamonds, Hilton Head baseball routed Hampton County 17-2 with Slater Alsobrook earning the win on the mound, while Hilton Head Prep swept a pair from Scholars Guild Academy and HHCA split with Norfolk Academy. Hayden Brooks with a complete game in a 6-2 win in the opener. Reagan Kelly led the hit parade for Bluffton softball in a 15-5 win over Battery Creek, while Colleton County beat Woodland 9-4 and Colleton Prep took down John Paul II 8-2.
May River girls soccer continued its absolute heater to start the season, getting a hat trick from Natalia Freund and braces from Zoe Stevenson Rebekah Hoover, and Brooke Dalton in a 12-0 rout of HHCA. The Sharks’ aggregate total is 28-nil through three games.
The boys lacrosse teams from Hilton Head and May River earned convincing wins, as the Seahawks handled Beaufort 16-5 and the Sharks pounded Philip Simmons 14-4.
