Been a weird week, huh? We planned on a full slate of high school football games Friday and ended up picking up the pieces from a storm that shook us a bit but devastated others.
But we managed to sneak in five high school football games over a six-day span amongst the chaos, including a big homecoming win for the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins under the Monday afternoon sun.
Davis Cargill had a big game on the ground and threw a touchdown pass on a trick play, and he helped anchor an outstanding defensive effort from the Dolphins, who dominated Dillon Christian in a 29-8 win to improve to 2-2 and move into position to clinch a playoff spot with a win in any of their three remaining region games.
Quarterback Wyatt Harmer joined us on Monday’s LowcoSports Lowdown to break down the big win.
Beaufort Academy and Patrick Henry both notched region wins on Friday. Nych Underwood rushed for a career-high 241 yards and two touchdowns and Dietrich Shuford added 102 yards and a TD on the ground along with a TD pass in a 39-20 win over Colleton Prep, and Mikell Tucker Mathis rushed for 126 yards and two TDs and threw two touchdown passes to lead the Patriots to a 29-20 win at Faith Christian.
Hilton Head Christian Academy couldn’t slow down Pinewood Prep’s Jeremiah Singleton, who rolled up 420 rushing yards and three TDs to lead the Panthers to a 60-20 rout in a key region showdown, and Colleton County couldn’t keep up with Stratford in a 41-14 loss on Wednesday.
