Hey, it’s time for Last Night in the Lowco on WHHI, powered by LowcoSports.com!
And it’s almost time for another Lowco Friday Night loaded with high school football action. We have four Lowco-on-Lowco matchups on tap this week, starting with a battle for bragging rights north of the Broad River with Battery Creek traveling to Beaufort. The Eagles have won 14 straight meetings dating to 2003, and they are poised to make it 15 as they look to bounce back from a humbling defeat and take it out on the winless Dolphins, who lost quarterback Chase Olson to a season-ending injury last week.
Someone will get a much-needed W when winless Hilton Head Prep travels to John Paul the 2nd, which is searching for its first win since opening night, when the Golden Warriors stunned Thomas Heyward. The Rebels have won four straight after an 0-2 start and will welcome red-hot Hilton Head Christian Academy to Ridgeland on Friday. The Eagles have won three straight after starting 0-2 themselves, so someone’s win streak has to end.
And Hilton Head High hits the road to Colleton County in a must-win for both teams if they want to stay in the playoff picture. Elsewhere in Region 7-4A, May River hosts front-runner James Island and Bluffton travels to Lucy Beckham in a matchup of early contenders.
Hampton County is also at home, as the No. 5 Hurricanes host Edisto in Class 2A, and Beaufort Academy welcomes defending state champ Williamsburg Academy for a SCISA showdown, while Ridgeland, Colleton Prep, and Patrick Henry all face road tests.
