We are the Community Risk Reduction team for the Bluffton Township Fire District. Our roles involve a mix of public information dissemination, community outreach, safety assessments, and educational programs. Together, we work to keep the community informed and proactive about safety.
The CRR team is dedicated to identifying and reducing risks before they result in emergencies. Our work includes fire prevention education, home safety inspections, and emergency preparedness initiatives. The goal is to create a safer community by addressing potential hazards early on.
We offer several key programs such as home fire safety inspections, smoke alarm installations, CPR/AED training, and child passenger safety seat inspections. Additionally, we engage with schools to provide fire safety education and work with businesses to enhance their fire safety protocols.
The public can access our programs by visiting our website, contacting the fire district office, or visiting any of our fire stations. We also participate in community events where we share information, and residents can schedule appointments for home safety inspections or attend our educational sessions.
Our goals include expanding our outreach efforts and ensuring that every resident in Bluffton is equipped with the knowledge and tools to keep their home and family safe. We plan to collaborate more with local organizations and continuously adapt our programs based on community feedback to meet the evolving needs of the community.
One of our most impactful programs is the Smoke Alarm Installation Service, where we provide free smoke alarms to residents who need them. We also offer Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspections to ensure that car seats are installed correctly, which is vital for the safety of young children. Additionally, we provide CPR/AED training courses, which are available to the public, helping community members be prepared to respond in case of a cardiac emergency.
Our Home Safety Visits are a key part of our proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks within the community. During these visits, we help residents identify potential fire hazards, provide safety recommendations, and install smoke alarms if needed. The availability of public access AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) in strategic locations around Bluffton is another critical component of our safety strategy. These AEDs are available for immediate use in case of a cardiac emergency, significantly increasing the chances of survival. Together, these programs ensure that our community is not only prepared for emergencies but also actively working to prevent them.
