Hey, it’s time to get caught up on local sports with a holiday edition of Last Night in the Lowco on WHHI, powered by LowcoSports.com!
Much of the action has been far-flung over the past week, with teams setting off for holiday tournaments, but the Seahawk Holiday Classic brought the fun to our doorstep last week, and Hilton Head Prep’s boys had a strong showing against some quality competition, going 2-1 to take third place. The Dolphins’ only defeat came at the hands of eventual champion John Carroll School out of Maryland, and Prep knocked off the host Seahawks in the opening round and edged University (Tenn.) 51-48 in the third-place game behind a double-double from Jason Britschge.
Bluffton’s girls brought a tournament title home last week with wins over Greer and Berkeley to improve to 9-1, and now they’re coming home for the Bobcat Classic that tipped off today in The Den. Both the boys and girls from Bluffton and Hampton County are in the bracket along with the Whale Branch girls, so there’s plenty of local flavor mixed with teams from Florida, Georgia, Ohio, and North Carolina.
We’ll get caught up on all of today’s tournament action and set the stage for Friday on a live edition of the LowcoSports Lowdown at 10 p.m. Thursday on the Lowco Media Network.
The other big event in our neck of the woods this weekend is the Shark Invitational wrestling tournament at May River, which will draw 32 teams from across South Carolina and Georgia for a two-day event Friday and Saturday. We previewed the event and looked back on last week’s high school wrestling results Wednesday night on a new episode of the Lowco Grind presented by Reverence Wrestling Club.
