Tuesday nights in the fall are all about high school volleyball, and the action is heating up with region rivalries getting back into full swing, including a donnybrook in The Den last night with the Bluffton Bobcats hosting the Hilton Head Seahawks for a Region 6-4A showdown.
Team Lowco’s Wes Kerr was in the house along with the team from Beaufort’s Own, and we went in-depth in breaking down a big win for the Bobcats on last night’s LowcoSports Lowdown. Libero Sarah Cate Helsey was going all-out all night long to spoil the Seahawks’ attacks, and the Bobcats had their offense in rhythm throughout, taking two hard-fought sets before Hilton Head fought back to force a fourth. But the Bobcats bounced right back and closed it out for a 3-1 win and a 2-0 start in region play with huge matches at Bishop England and May River looming next week.
The Sharks lost a tough 3-1 decision at Bishop England last night, but the boys salvaged a split with a 3-1 win over the Battling Bishops at home. And Bluffton’s boys stayed unbeaten with a 3-0 sweep of Hilton Head.

On the golf course, Hilton Head High shot 169 to edge Beaufort by five shots in a dual match at Cat Island Club with Brooke Niclaus earning medalist honors with a 35, and Hilton Head Prep shot 200 to win a three-team match with John Paul the 2nd and HHCA at Colleton River’s Nicklaus Course. Prep’s Lexi Palazzo shot 41 for medalist honors.
