Hey, it’s time for Last Night in the Lowco on WHHI, powered by LowcoSports.com!
And it’s almost time to kickoff another Lowco Friday Night!
We’ll get you ready for kickoff with a full hour of preview content live at 12:30 p.m. Friday on Lowco Gameday Live and round up all the scores and details in real time on the Lowco Pigskin Live recap show at 11:30 p.m. Friday night, but here’s a look at some of the highlights of the final Lowco high school football slate of the regular season.
We’ll start with the black and white. Region titles will be up for grabs when Hampton County travels to Barnwell, Patrick Henry hosts Thomas Heyward, and Whale Branch hosts Bamberg-Ehrhardt – your truly on the call for the latter on WSAV - and the top seed in the playoffs also hangs in the balance in Region 8-3A, as Beaufort travels to Hanahan, but that scenario is more complicated.
The Eagles need to beat the Hawks by at least points AND hold them to six points or fewer to claim the top seed, assuming Philip Simmons takes care of business against winless Battery Creek. If it’s still in single-digits after halftime, grab your abacus.
Similar situation for the WHHI Game of the Week with the Hilton Head Seahawks needing to beat the visiting May River Sharks by a healthy margin AND get some help in the form of a Bluffton Bobcats win at Colleton County to slip into the final playoff spot in Region 7-4A.
The Sharks claim the spot with a win or by keeping the margin of defeat under 13, so there will be a game within the game unfolding late. You’ll also need to keep an eye on that Bluffton-Colleton score, because the Cougars can grab that last spot with a win and a May River loss.
Rivals Hilton Head Christian Academy and Hilton Head Prep also square off in a Sea Pines matinee, and Ridgeland-Hardeeville and Beaufort Academy are at home to close the regular season, so it should be a great Lowco Friday Night.
