6th Annual Camp Conroy
Camp Conroy is a two-week day camp build-a-book experience for young writers and artists, ages 8 to 14. Campers research, write, illustrate, edit, design, and ultimately publish a book together. The nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center’s 6th annual Camp Conroy will be held June 12 to 23, Monday to Friday.
• Camp Conroy is held at Beaufort Middle School, which was Beaufort High School when Pat Conroy was a student and later a teacher there.
• 20 campers attend each summer. 8 are sponsored by community-funded scholarships.
• 8 camp counselors assist the team of 4 adult instructors and special guest presenters.
• This year’s camp sold out almost immediately.
• Counselors Alex Bosley (Junior, Bridges Prep) and Lee Lemstrom (Senior, Beaufort High School) are two of the original Camp Conroy counselors, now entering their third year as counselors. Charlotte Price (Senior, Beaufort Academy) is returning for her second year as a counselor.
