Community Safety Discussion about traffic, collisions and 2023 increase in traffic fatalities
Wednesday, September 20, 2023 6–7:30pm
Bluffton Police Department (101 Progressive Street, Bluffton – Buckwalter Place), Training Room
The Town of Bluffton averages about 1400 traffic collisions per year. In 2023, five people have lost their lives on Bluffton roads. This is an open discussion about what the Bluffton Police Department (BPD) is doing to reduce the number of collisions and to ask for residents partnership in signing the “Stay Safe, Bluffton!” pledge.
Distracted driving – from driving under the influence, cell phone use, eating, drinking and personal grooming – is to blame for most collisions. Residents will be asked to partner with the BPD and be mindful of their own distracted driving behaviors, so together BPD and this community can reduce the number of tragic collision.
