1) New York Times best-selling novelist De'Shawn Charles Winslow, author of Decent People, at NeverMore Books, on Friday, March 3, 5:00 p.m. New novel is a small-town murder mystery. Already on recommended reading lists of USA Today, Good Housekeeping, the American Booksellers Association’s Indie Next, and Apple Books. In conversation with Jonathan Haupt. 2) Teddy Bear Picnic Read-Aloud at Port Royal Farmers Market on Saturday, March 4, 9:00 to noon. Representing Beaufort High School, Beaufort Academy, and Battery Creek High School, students from the National Honor Society and DAYLO: Diversity Awareness Youth Literacy Organization will be reading picture books to younger kids and their families (K-4). Snacks provided. In partnership with the Storybook Shoppe, we will also be giving away paper crowns and stickers celebrating Paper Bag Princess Day. Bookstore owner Sally Sue Lavigne will be appearing in costume with her dragon puppet.

Sally Sue and other children's authors will be accompanying me to a special family literacy night at Whale Branch Elementary School on Thursday, March 2. And De'Shawn Charles Winslow will be meeting with high school students at Beaufort Academy on Friday, March 3, as this year's school visits for March Forth.
