Donor Spotlight: I would like to introduce you to one of our most loyal and generous annual donors… The Treasure House Thrift & More. Located at 914 Boundary Street, this mission driven organization commits 50% of their net profit to HTCCS. This past February the Treasure House made a $60,000.00 gift to Holy Trinity. This remarkable gift was made possible by generous donations of items to the store as well as a wonderful group of volunteers and store manager, Lizann Pendarvis.
LizAnn refers to the store as a community centered boutique. They offer many quality items in a clean spacious environment. The store features houseware, art, jewelry, books, furniture, home decor and toys. They make an effort to display only quality clothing for men women and children at bargain prices. The store features a special boutique section for the finer quality clothing at slightly higher prices. The store even has a section of Holy Trinity uniforms where students can swap gently used uniforms for larger sizes.
When asked what they need from the community, without hesitation LizAnn said "we need volunteers”. Volunteers help with intake of items, display of items, keeping the floor tidy, assisting customers or managing transactions to help customers check out and pay for their merchandise. Volunteers work short shifts Monday - Friday either 10-12:30 or 12:30-3pm. They especially need help covering Saturday shifts either 11-1 or 1-3pm. In terms of donations, they make the most off of clothing donations and furniture.
In addition to Holy Trinity, The Treasure House supports local organizations such as CAPA, Rooms of Grace, HELP Beaufort, Good Neighbor Medical Clinic, Mercy Me Sober to name only a few. More importantly, the Treasure House serves as a safe place for people to go for help. People in the community know that they can go to the Treasure House for assistance and will be outfitted with their needs at no cost if necessary. LizAnn recalled a woman who recently came into the store for help. She had fled a bad situation; leaving quickly with nothing she had to start all over. The staff went above and beyond to help her furnish her new home with everything she needed. Others have come in with nothing to pay but were given clothes to enable them to interview for a job. Those that seek assistance know that they will be treated with dignity and their story kept private.
The next time you clean out your closet or redecorate your home please consider donating your unwanted items to the Treasure House. Small items can be dropped off in the back of the building and with advance notice the Treasure House will coordinate volunteers to pick up larger items. The value of gifts to this 501(c)(3) charitable organization are tax deductible. Please also consider volunteering. Just one Saturday shift a month will be both a tremendous help and a fulfilling experience for you. Finally - go shopping!! Your purchases support the community and make a big difference to the Holy Trinity mission.
