Night of Unity Event

The Bluffton Police Department is hosting its “Night of Unity,” event, Thursday, January 11 from 5: 30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Buckwalter Place Park – Amphitheatre side. This park is located in front of the Bluffton Police Department (101 Progressive Street). This is a free event where Bluffton residents and neighbors can gather for live music, food, and fellowship. Parking is available behind the eviCore building which is located adjacent to the Bluffton Police Department.
“Members of the Town’s Buck Island- Simmonsville Neighborhood Advisory Committee mentioned the community comes together for tragic incidents but we need to come together just to celebrate each other, a new year and hear positive messages from our faith leaders and choirs,” Police Chief Joe Babkiewicz said. “We loved the idea, so Bluffton police officers and firefighters will be the master grillers and serve hotdogs and hamburgers to make this a full-fledged community event.”
There will be several faith-based organizations there to provide live music and speak about the power of community.
Chief Babkiewicz said this is a great way to begin a new year with the intention of celebrating our community.
“We want people to be reminded about how unique Bluffton is and how, in our busy lives, we can continue to create and cultivate a supportive circle for all,” Chief Babkiewicz said. “We hope folks come out and meet new neighbors and enjoy the evening of positivity.”
*This event was originally scheduled for mid-September however it was canceled due to inclement weather.
30x30 Initiative
This is a non-profit organization that is teaming up with Police Agencies across the country as they are trying to attract more females into the law enforcement profession. The goal of the organization is to get at least 30 % of our staff as females by the year 2030.
