Terece (Teri) Torquato and Daniel (Coach) Godsun, Sr., have joined the staff of the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island and bring to the Club extensive and varied experiences as youth development professionals.

Announcement of the appointment of Torquato, who will serve as assistant unit director, and Godsun, who assumes the position of teen director/youth development specialist, was made by Chris Protz, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of the Lowcountry, and Kim Likins, unit director of the Hilton Head Island Club.

“Teri and Daniel bring a wide range of experience and deep passion for our mission,” Likins said. “I look forward to working with such talented individuals to help our members develop as caring, responsible citizens and to reach their full potential.”

A graduate of William Paterson University in New Jersey with a degree in communications, Torquato comes to the Hilton Head Island club after serving as program director for a Boys & Girls Club in Orange County in the state of New York, manager of the Madison Square  Boys & Girls Club in the south Bronx in New York City and project director for the Workforce Development Boards in Montgomery and Bucks counties outside of Philadelphia.  In the latter position, she implemented programs for 16-24-year-olds that included professional internships, job shadowing, mentoring and college preparation.

A native of the Bronx and graduate of Baruch College of the City University of New York with a degree in entrepreneurship and small business management, Godsun played semi-professional basketball after graduating from college and is the founder of the WIN (What’s Important Now) Academy for Success.

His love of basketball and passion for mentoring took him to coaching, working and/or volunteer positions at Baruch College, New Heights Academy, East Harlem Tutorial and Boston Secor Housing Community, and locally he has been involved with the Beaufort County School District and Hilton Head Island public and private schools.  As a youth Daniel spent many summers in Coosawhatchie.
